私が現地に行く5日前に大規模な火災があったばかり。密集した住宅はおよそ150棟が失われた。焼け野原には重機もなく。まともな道具すらない。寡黙に人力でガレキを片付ける漢たちの姿に心を打たれた。そして温かい笑顔で受け入れてくれた住人たちには感謝する。1日も早くよみがえってさらに豊かになることを心から祈る。A major fire had occurred just five days before I visited the area. Due to the close proximity of the buildings, it seems that around 150 buildings were lost. There was no heavy machinery in the burnt ruins. Not even proper tools. I was moved by the sight of the men silently clearing away the rubble by hand. I am also grateful to the residents who welcomed me with warm smiles. I sincerely hope that the area will recover as soon as possible and become even more prosperous.
