マニラ市北方に位置する最極貧のスラム街「Happy Land」。この町に到着したのは朝6時。すでに人の往来は激しく、物々しい雰囲気から近づくことへのためらいが起きる。タガログ語でゴミを捨てることを意味するハピランが語源とされるが定かではない。貧困と家族愛、悲喜交々入り混じる日常に単独で密着し取材した。Happy Land is one of the poorest slums located north of Manila. I arrived in the town at 6am. There were already a lot of people there, and the atmosphere was tense. I hesitated to approach.The origin of the name is thought to be the Tagalog word "hapilan," which means to throw away trash, but the exact origin is unclear. We conducted an exclusive, intimate investigation into the daily life of the people, where poverty, family love, and joys and sorrows are mixed together.
